As InterAction's Senior Director, Communications and Public Engagement, Morgan Martinez leads the communications team and InterAction's flagship event Forum.  Morgan joined InterAction as Director of Communication in May of 2019. She is an expert in strategic and cross-cultural communications with over ten years of experience. She is known to think creatively and use out-of-the-box methods.

Prior to InterAction, she was Deputy Director of External Affairs at the International Republican Institute where she oversaw the expansion of IRI’s online communications efforts including the conception and launch of Democracy Speaks and IRI's podcast, Global. While at IRI, Morgan monitored elections in Tunisia, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Timor-Leste. Morgan has trained hundreds of IRI participants around the world on the use of social media in closed and closing spaces including in Laos, Burma, The Gambia*, Hong Kong, and Turkey.

In 2012, Morgan was the Director of Digital Strategy for Governor Buddy Roemer of Louisiana, where she created the governor's online strategy which was noted by news sources for its innovative and out-of-the-box methods. While with the Governor, Martinez was nominated for a Shorty and Mashable Award.

An expert in the use and influence of social media within the political landscape, she spoke at the Harvard University Institute of Politics John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum in 2013 on the use of social media as an indispensable element of the 2012 presidential election.

From 2007 to 2010, Martinez worked for then-Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado of California.

Morgan is from California and has a degree in English literature from the University of the Pacific in Stockton California. She currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband, daughter, and American bulldog, Roosevelt.
